2500 GPD, 3 TANK WELL WATER BY ECOSMARTE

Animal Hospital Clear Lake, Iowa

July 1995
Applications: diseased small herd is drinking no more than 20 gallons of water per day per cow and milk production has fallen to critical levels. Exhausting all options with salt, feed and medicine the Animal Hospital of Clear Lake, Iowa contacts ECOsmarte for comprehensive water analysis and treatment options.

August 1995
The water is determined to have 1.3 ppm manganese and 510 ppm sulfate and the large animal veterinarian from Clear Lake surmises that cattle will not consume high manganese, high sulfur water. ECOsmarte equipment remove all of the manganese and the sulphur odor is eliminated.

September 1995
Water consumption has increased to 37 gallons per day per animal and milk production resumes in two or more previously non-productive dairy cattle. Mortality continues with the herd allowing consumption per animal to rise to nearly 50 gallons per animal by Feb 1996.

An eight year old salt based treatment system designed to lower hardness and remove sulfur fails at the Kevin Jones Dairy Farming. Upon consultation with the nutritionist, his well driller and ECOsmarte personnel, a 10,000 gallon per day “QUAD SYSTEM” is configured for the daily operation and two farmhouses, the system is engineered to treat 1600 TDS water with over 900 sulfate levels.

June 2003
Immediate water quality improvements in odor and taste are enjoyed in both farm houses but water consumption falls in the dairy herd. The nutritionist immediately increases the sodium content in the feed to compensate for removing 200 ppm sodium from the dairy herd drinking water. Calves can be raised with milk on the treated.
Technical Note: Eliminating Water Softness May Require Increasing Sodium in Feed.
Water is used as opposed to formula prior to the installation of the ECOsmarte System.

August 2003
Large animal nutritionist observes higher water consumption, higher milk production and elimination of hoof warts due to spillage of the ionized/oxygenated water is a nice bonus benefit.
Technical Note: Hoof baths are standard equipment on most midwestern dairy farms.

August 2004
Kevin Jones is featured in agribusiness magazines, such as Farm Shine for award winning dairy production.  Troughs were formed and hoof warts in the herd were virtually eliminated. “My first step was to fix the water and after, to make sure that everything fell in place,” he said.

Why ECOsmarte?

"My kids love the fact that they can now swim without the water burning their eyes."

"We are thousands of dollars ahead at this point and everyone loves our water."

"I can backwash the pool out onto the yard without having to worry about the chlorine killing the grass."

"The water is wonderful, soft and clear."
